Overtake

Overtake

Story: A Malayali family winds up their business in Bengaluru and decides to return to Kerala. While driving down to Kochi, they get chased by a truck

Inspection : Nandan Menon (Vijay Babu) and wife (Parvathy Nair) are located in Bengaluru. However, situations induce Nandan to resign his job return to Kochi with his family. There are also hints that the new managing director and Nandan aren't in good terms.

The movie starts with a Benz car halting at a signal. A biker begins honking though it is a red signal and tries to overtake the car, leaving scratches from the process. The event has a bearing on the overall scheme of things follow.

The film picks up pace during the family's journey to Kochi from Bengaluru, where they encounter a tanker truck which does not let them to it. They manage to overtake it, the motorist menacingly shadows them trying to kill them at each turn.

The film flings a mind-boggling number of questions at the viewer -- the relevant ones being that the driver is and what is his motive and why the bystanders spotted they never say a gigantic truck following the household car. While there are subtle signs along the road and the driver's identity is a surprise reveal, the audience becomes lost in the story, which addresses the chase for more than an hour and 40 minutes.

Compared to Hollywood road movies such as Steven Spielberg's Duel or Bollywood films like Navdeep Singh's NH 10 and Ramgopal Varma's Road, Overtake doesn't even come close.

The advantages though are that the movie has a few thrilling scenes and no unneeded sub plots. It is wrapped up over a few of hours, and also features some fantastic rustic locales captured through aerial shots. Overtake is not the same attempt but does not pack the capacity to race ahead.
